About Joseph J. Dixon, Esquire
I was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1971. I attended college at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1975. Thereafter, I attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law graduating with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1978. Since the time of my graduation, I have practiced law in the Harrisburg area. For the first year of my practice, I worked in the field of taxes. Since tax law was not what I wanted to do, I moved to the general practice of law in 1980. I am currently a member of the Dauphin County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. I am admitted to practice in all state courts in Pennsylvania and I practice in the Middle District Federal Court in Central Pennsylvania.
Just as important as the above-mentioned educational background, I have a strong interest and desire to represent working people with problems with the legal system. As a child, I had the privilege to live with a father who was also an attorney. My father practiced law in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, for 40 years. At a young age I was exposed to the realities of the legal world, which was very helpful to me throughout the years. It is still a help to me even today. However, I was also instilled with a strong sense of helping working people. Before my father became an attorney, he was a coal miner in northeast Pennsylvania. He did heavy labor and mined coal to work his way through college and law school. He literally drilled into his son’s mind a sense of value for those people who do hard work in life. I have dedicated my practice to representing those who have to work to make a living.
